Hi! Welcome to my first post in The OB. There’s more info about me and this blog on the about page. To kick this blog off, I want to mention The Imagine Cup.
It may sound like some strange coffee-related psychology experiment, but in reality it’s one of the most exciting technology competitions / events that young people around the world can get involved in. Put simply, it’s an annual competition run by Microsoft that encourages young people to apply their imagination, their passion, and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world. This year the theme of the IC is “Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment.”
There are nine catagories in which you can enter: Software Design, Embedded Design, Game Development, Project Hoshimi, The IT Challenge, Algorithm, Interface Design, Short Film. So as you can see – it doesn’t matter if you’re a hardcore coder, someone wanting a challenge, or a media mogul – there’s something for everyone in the Imagine Cup.
It’s open for any student in the world* – all you need is to be over the age of 16 and to be enrolled in a University or College. But why listen to me go on about it more? I mean Microsoft pay marketing people to do the selling and come up with the catchy phrases! Go to www.imaginecup.co.uk (there’s also a permanent link on the right) and check it out for yourself!
Good Luck!
